First of all, I would like to thank Kavitha from Red Bohemia for nominating me for Versatile Blogger Award!

Right on, starting with the 7 things you may or may not know about me!

#1 – My obsession with polka dots

I own a number of polka dot items, from dresses to mobile phone covers to bags and sometimes I have my nails dotted. It never occur to me that I have a strong attraction towards polka dots.

Polkadotroom

In 2011, I stumbled upon an exhibition by Yayoi Kusama who is famous for her polka dot arts in Brisbane Art Gallery. From the moment I entered a room full of polka dots, I experienced an overwhelming sense of elation. That instant, I pieced up how my obsession in polka dots has creeped into my life subconsciously. The closet polka dot lover in me is finally unleashed.

#2 – Bitten by travel bug since 2011. (or so you already guess, this is a travel blog after all.)

It was also that trip to Australia that got me addicted to travelling. When I return home, my mind was intrigued to see the world! Since then, I have been trotting as much as I could afford to. No longer am I contented living in the bubble and see the world through in the Internet.

#3 – If I can travel solo, surely I can read a map

Most of my friends whom I travelled with usually took over the task of being a map reader, I just need to follow the leader.  I like to blame it on the lack of ‘on-the-job’ training so I tend take slightly longer when I study the map and even after studying, there is a high tendency that I will somehow walk in a different direction. It is a miracle how I manage to survive travelling solo.

#4 – I sleep, (almost) anywhere.

This is one ability I am thankful of! It helps me to snooze out and get much needed rest whenever I could. I sleep in cars, trains and buses, sometimes I doze off without realising, the rhythmic movement of those vehicles help. One transportation which I have not been very successful catching forty winks is on board planes. Usually the seats are so uncomfortable (even for a vertically-challenged person like me) and long hours of breathing in recycled air make my nostrils feel raw.

#5 – The need to hit the snooze

I am not a morning person nor am I a light sleeper. My brain and body cannot function the moment the alarm rang. There is a need to hit the snooze button, several times! Yes, even when I am travelling. Although I will tend to snooze lesser in hostels for the fear of disturbing others. I usually set my alarm an hour before the ‘have to wake up’ time so that it will give my brain enough time to send messages to other parts of my body that it is time to bloody wake up! I know, I have a complicated bio-clock.

#6 – I am adventurous with food but I can be picky eater too!

I am a foodie. I live to eat! I am adventurous when it comes to food, I will try new dishes although sometimes I may look at it skeptically. However there are a list of no-no in my food list such as olives, carrots, uncooked bean sprouts, coriander (and these are all that I can think of now.)

This is the awful green stuff. 🙁

Oreo is an item which I have not  been eating since my days working in a distributor house for Kraft. I guess I have eaten half my lifetime worth of Oreos back then.

#7 – I love the water but…

I cannot say I do not know how to swim. I mean I know breast stroke but I like it when my feet are able to touch the ground when I am tired. I will panic and struggle once my feet are not able to touch the ground.  I cannot tread water however it does not stop me from having fun! I snorkel and wakeboard. I am game enough for anything as long as it involves me in a life jacket. My world is only limited by water, I am sure if I can breakthrough that, I will open a whole new world to dive in difference places, admiring marine lives at their homeland. I just need to build up on that water confidence so it got to start with swimming lessons somewhere…

We were pushed underwater for this shot in Redang and then immediately, I had people bringing me back to shore.

I know I will need to pass on this Versatile Blogger Award to the next 15 bloggers but  I am sure most have already been nominated for this award hence I shall not nominate anyone for this. (This gonna stop at some point right?)

Hope you enjoy reading my 7 fun facts!
