Hi, my name is Pamela, born and bred in a concrete jungle, Singapore. I have a flair for travelling. I am currently holding a full-time job in the consumerism corporate world while I travel the world part-time.

What is Pam Goes Travelling all about?

Pam goes travelling is a place where I share my travel memories and thoughts.

My aim is to show you that it is possible to travel the world while still having a full-time job and to break the myth that one need not be rich or earn big bucks in order to go travelling. All you need is careful financial and travel planning.

Travelling is an education itself, there are more to travelling than just shopping, Travelling involves exposing to different cultures, widening perspective and it also make you appreciate things you may take for granted without realising in your life.

Last but not least, I hope to inspire you to travel solo. There is always a fear of the unknown but once you take the plunge and push out of your own comfort zone, life will reward you with so much more!

How I caught that travel bug?

I grew up believing I am in the making to create a quality life by working hard in a bustling city I call home. Contented with occasional holidays to neighbouring countries. Back then, travelling was all about shopping, splurging on cheap food and services which deemed expensive in Singapore and of course the relaxation.

December 2011 was the turning point, upon completion of my degree, I rewarded myself to a 2 weeks graduation trip to Australia. That 17 days of constant travelling unlocked the travel bug in me. There were plenty of first time experiences and since then, I could not stop dreaming about travelling, a true case of serious wanderlust!

Since then, I unlocked many personal achievements which I never thought I could have accomplished such as taking solo trips, venturing into a new continent with a backpack on my back. I found myself constantly adding into my long list of cities/ countries to visit and I started my list of Life Goals which I want to accomplish.

My travels

I believe in striking a balance between everything. There are times I travel with friends, there are times I like to do explore a city on my own. Sometimes I carry my travel possessions on my back while other times, I wheel luggage beside me. I love value for money deals and sometimes I indulge in guilt pleasures.

I have a terrible sense of direction. I am a horrible navigator, a slow map reader but I am getting there! Thank goodness for Google Map which save most of my days! I will need at least 2 seconds to figure out my Left and Right! Despite my lack of directional sense, I still manage to survive trips on my own.

I travel because I feel empowered to make things happen. I am capable of pushing my own limits to achieve my goals. I travel to experience cultures, understand histories, interact with locals, experiment different cuisines and to admire nature’s beauty. Travelling opens my eyes and mind, giving me the extra contentment that no amount of material goods can satisfy. Most importantly, I travel because I want to experience life.

I invite you to join me in my journey as I grow, learn and experience through my travels. To find me in the virtual world, please contact me at pamgoestravelling@gmail.com

Happy travels!
